Sterility, Infertility, and Impotence in Men - What Is The Difference?

The terms infertility, sterility, and erectile dysfunction can be intertwined and confused sometimes with men. But the truth is these are all unique conditions in themselves. Men should know the difference between the three conditions as they may have to confront one of them sometimes in their life and because one is highly treatable even though most men don't seek treatment!

Sterility

Most men think of being sterile as similar to being infertile. While both conditions mean that there will be a problem having children they both have a very basic difference.

When a man is sterile it means that the possibility of him having a child is zero. Sterility occurs when there is no sperm production. This means that there is no chance to reproduce sexually.

Sterility is very restricted to the reproductive system. When damage in the varicose veins in the testicles or other testicular problems occurs then this might cause sterility.

Hormonal problems can also cause sterility in men. Signs of hormonal problems can be blurred vision, insomnia, short temper, weak muscles, and small or soft testicles.

The diagnoses of being sterile is given after a thorough examination by a doctor.

Infertility

When a man in infertile it does not mean he is sterile and not able to have a child, but rather that there is some reason or issue that is holding him back from his ability to conceive.

Infertility can be related to a sperm disorder which can include his sperm count, amount of sperm produced, sperm motility, and even sperm shape.

Alternatively infertility may not be related to the reproductive system at all and instead appear because of stress, age, immune conditions, STDs, and other lifestyle factors.

The causes of infertility can be discovered through tests and semen analyses over a period of time.

More Detailed Causes of Infertility

Most men experience infertility because of:

  • A problem called varicocele. This can occur when the veins on a man's testicles are too large. The veins can create heat in the testicles and that can affect the amount and even the shape of the sperm.

Other common reasons that men have an issue with their sperm are:

  • They have sustained injuries or damage to their reproductive system and it is somehow affecting the movement of the sperm.

  • Illnesses such as cystic fibrosis can cause infertility.

  • Substance abuse - including cigarettes, alcohol, and other drugs

  • Environmental issues

  • Medication

Impotence

Impotence is the inability to see out intercourse to the end. In looser terms this means that a man is unable to maintain an erection.

Impotence, also called erectile dysfunction, is extremely common in males with an estimated 2.3 million men affected in the UK alone. Unfortunately most men don't seek treatment for their impotence even though erectile dysfunction is highly treatable.

What causes male impotency?

The cause of impotency can be from many factors that we can control such as stress, lack of sleep, anxiety, relationship issues, and substance abuse.

There are also medical issues that can cause impotence including.

  • Medication

  • High blood pressure

  • High cholesterol

  • Injury

  • Neurological diseases

Treatment of Impotence

Impotence is highly treatable so men need to start seeking out the help they need to maintain an erection. Since an erection is caused by blood rushing into the penis many treatments are geared towards the blood flow in the penis.

Medication: We have all heard of Viagra, but there are other drugs used as well that can be taken orally. They should be taken about 30 minutes before sex, and they can have a positive effect for anywhere between 6 to 30+ hours. But as with any medications there can be side effects and cautions and these pills should not be taken by men with heart disease or high blood pressure.

Injections: Men can also inject a drug into the base of their penis before having sex that will help the penis fill with blood and create an erection. Sounds fun right? If you feel as though you can do this then remember those injections also have side effects like pain, allergy, and discomfort.

Surgery: If there is a block of blood flow to the penis then surgery may help correct it. This will result in natural erections that don't require drugs or injections anymore. Men can also receive penile implants which involve inserting an inflatable device or rods that create an erection.

Vacuum devices: Sounds a little austin powers, but it can work. The penis pump can force blood into the penis and help an erection occur. Once the penis is erect a ring is placed at the base of the penis to help maintain the erection by keeping the blood in the penis.

If you understand the way she thinks and behaves, and she does the same, the comfort level increases. When comfort levels increase, sexual tension and inhibitions decrease, and real pleasure sets in. defining vigrx plus site
